Mohamed Muse Abukar
I am a Senior Advisor at the Somali Academy of Science, Culture and Arts (SOMASCA), where I contribute to advancing knowledge, culture, research, innovation, and the development of initiatives that can make a meaningful contribution to Somali society and Africa more broadly. Throughout my professional journey, I have remained committed to excellence, service, intellectual development, and creating opportunities that contribute to sustainable social and institutional transformation. My work and achievements reflect a strong commitment to promoting science, education, culture, leadership, and knowledge as important foundations for national development. In my role as Senior Advisor, I provide strategic guidance and contribute to initiatives that strengthen the Academy’s contribution to research, scholarship, cultural preservation, knowledge exchange, and the development of future generations. I believe that meaningful leadership is not measured only by personal achievements, but also by the positive impact one creates for institutions, communities, and future generations. My professional experience has therefore focused on building bridges between knowledge, leadership, culture, and development, while supporting initiatives that can strengthen Somalia’s contribution to the wider African development agenda. Why I Am Applying for the Wezesha Awards 2027 I am applying for the Wezesha Awards 2027 because I see the platform as an opportunity to celebrate meaningful African achievement while amplifying the work of individuals who are contributing to positive change. The theme, “Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring Impact, Transforming Africa,” strongly resonates with my professional values and commitment to serving society through knowledge, leadership, and institutional development. Being considered for the Wezesha Awards would provide an opportunity to share the Somali experience with a wider African audience and demonstrate that excellence and transformative ideas can emerge from every part of the continent. I also hope that recognition through this platform can inspire young Somalis and Africans to value education, knowledge, culture, innovation, leadership, and service to their communities. I am not applying simply for recognition; I am applying to contribute to a larger conversation about African excellence and transformation. I believe that celebrating individuals who serve their communities can encourage others to pursue purposeful leadership and create lasting impact. Through my continued work with SOMASCA and my broader commitment to knowledge, culture, science, and development, I hope to contribute to a stronger, more connected, and more confident Africa. The Wezesha Awards 2027 represents an important platform through which such contributions can be recognized, shared, and used to inspire even greater impact.
